Round table. Acquaintance with plans on development of Regional Training and Information Center for HIV Prevention among migrants and members of their families
On January 28, 2010, International Organization for Migration (IOM) has organized round table in Astana, Kazakhstan with the purpose to familiarize participants with further plans on implementation of the large grant of Central Asia AIDS Control Project directed for the development of Regional Training and Information Center for HIV Prevention among migrants and their family members.
Participants of this round table represented following organizations of Kazakhstan: Mazhilis Parliament, Ministry of Internal Affairs (Migratory police unit, Committee of criminal police, Department of Fighting Against Human Trafficking), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning; Ministry of Labor and Social Protection; General Prosecutor’s Office, Supreme Court, Agency of Statistics, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (Department of Multilateral Cooperation), Committee of National Security, international organizations – OSCE, UNICEF, ILO, UNESCO, IOM and Central Asia AIDS Control Project.
The meeting was opened by the Head of IOM mission in the Central Asia, Mr. Zlatko Zigich. The Member of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Bychkova gave an opening speech and expressed her readiness for close cooperation. The Project Coordinator Ms. Shoinbekova made presentation on HIV infection epidemic and on plans for development of Training and Information Center for labor migrants. The regional public health specialist of Central Asia AIDS Control Project, Ms. Tatyana Surdina, explained the idea on establishing such center, the mechanism of technical and financial support of its development, conditions of allocation of the regional grant; explained mechanisms on institutionalization and expectations assigned on Training and Information Center and answered to many questions.
As a result of Round table discussions the Resolution has been accepted.
